Edwin Fox Furniture

Hello, My name is Edwin Fox. I’ve been in Australia since 2014. I’m originally from the unique and diverse city of Bristol, South West of England. Home of Banksy and Massive Attack and Darth Vader to name a few.
I have had a long history in the manufacturing & the creative industries. Starting off in Fine Art as a young student and then building my way up through the challenges of the working-class education system, attempting numerous trades in manufacturing/ carpentry to only discover my passions and strengths lay back in the Arts.

In 2009, as a mature-age student I took the direction and re-entered higher education in a Fine Arts Diploma to ready myself for University. This was to reacquaint myself and strengthen my portfolio.
At the age of 22 I was accepted into The University of the West of England (UWE) to begin a degree in Graphic Design. After 3 intense years of study, I was awarded a First Degree Bachelor of Arts with Honours.

Shortly after University, I found myself wanting to reconnect with the physical aspect of art and so I commenced a course in Traditional Upholstery. This is where I found many aspects of my interests connected; art / design, hand-craft, history, furniture and sustainability.

As a young child, my mother taught me the very importance of ‘make do and mend’ and how to use a sewing machine. So when learning a skill such as upholstery it was second-nature to me.
With this new direction, I began to look forward with the sight in owning my own business in restoration & upholstery.

In late 2014, I booked a one way ticket to Australia and my new life began.
I met my sister in Melbourne and we began our travels along the East Coast of Australia. Shortly after my travels I met a girl in Melbourne and I think you know where this story goes.

Seven and a bit years later; I have a young family, including my wife and our two year old son and not to forget our old Golden Retriever dog. We currently rent and hope to one day own a place, even in rural Victoria.

Currently I operate a small business from my studio/workshop, where I restore, Identify and resale furniture from the past 20th Century. This consists manly of Mid Century furniture & lighting.
My business fulfils my creative needs and I hope to educate and communicate the importance of sustainability and well made furniture.
