Make Transformational: Monash University Caulfield Campus Student Experience Day Past Event

Presented by Monash University, Department of Design

Design has global impact. It aids our journey through life; helps us communicate; builds communities, addresses complex challenges, and in doing so, projects us forward into new and exciting futures. This specially designed experience day is for high school students interested in design futures, from years 10—12. The session introduces its participants to the design approach unique to Monash, by engaging in a design making activity that demonstrates the transformative potential of design solutions that intersect designerly thinking with new technologies. Regardless of what units one has taken in high school, a design education a Monash is an opportunity to bring together creative skills and approaches intent on making a positive difference in the world. This experience day enables students to sample Monash’s approach first-hand, in a real, face to face design project.

The Department of Design at Monash University is home to four exciting design degree programs: the Bachelor of Communication Design, the Bachelor of Industrial Design, and the Bachelor of Spatial Design and the Bachelor of Collaborative Design. The design degrees Monash offer empowers their cohorts with the knowledge and skills to make significant contributions to the world through design thinking, design making, and design technologies.

This workshop is presented by Associate Professor Gene Bawden and Dr Indae Hwang.
