How the inclusion and design of Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) is transforming the city.

How the inclusion and design of Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) is transforming the city. Past Event

Presented by Denton Corker Marshall

This panel event will take a deep-dive into how Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) can revitalise our most-loved civic landscapes and city centres. Hosted by global architecture practice Denton Corker Marshall, Senior Director Adrian FitzGerald will present some of the practice’s ground breaking work in Singapore and Melbourne, alongside the City of Melbourne’s Director of City Design, Jocelyn Chiew, who will present the city’s initiatives in encouraging new laneways, public space and amenity by private developers.

With strong alignment to the City of Melbourne’s approach to activating and greening the city, POPS has the ability to revitalise the Melbourne CBD to attract business and residents, as well as tourism in the pandemic era. Following their presentations, Adrian and Jocelyn will be joined by a distinguished panel including Dr Elizabeth Taylor, Senior Lecturer, Urban Planning and Design, Monash University and Deputy Lord Mayor, Cr Nicholas Reece, and moderated by Simon Knott, Director of award winning architecture practice BKK to discuss the impact of POPS within the civic realm.
