Welcome to Melbourne Design Week 2022. Using the theme ‘design the world you want’, this year’s festival encourages us to think about the ways design can help shape our collective future.

With a special focus on the communal, social and environmental impacts of design, the 2022 festival celebrates the common good at the heart of this vital creative industry.

Increasingly, design will play a role in helping us all respond to the challenges of climate change – Melbourne Design Week will highlight how good design leads to better environmental outcomes.

Victoria is a leader in design. We send goods and services around the globe, working with local and international talent to create innovative solutions for some of our planet’s greatest challenges.

Over 11 days, Melbourne Design Week showcases and celebrates these strengths and the diverse impact of design.

The program presents more than 350 events spanning architecture and construction, manufacturing and product design, medical and information technology and more. It also extends into regional Victoria, with Ballarat and Castlemaine joining the festival for the first time, alongside East Gippsland.

The Victorian Government is proud to present Melbourne Design Week in partnership with the National Gallery of Victoria. Since 2017, the festival has gone from strength to strength with an ever-expanding program.

Whether online or in person, in Melbourne or regional Victoria, inspiration will abound at Melbourne Design Week.
