Making Nation Past Event
Presented by peckvonhartel and Steelcase
peckvonhartel and Steelcase collaborate in an installation and talk series that explores the intersection between ‘Civic Good’ and ‘Making Good’. The talk series will consist of two intimate panel discussions spread across two evenings in the Steelcase showroom.
Civic Good – Design That Connects
Installation: To kick off Design Week, First Nations artist Simone Thomson will be creating artwork within the Steelcase showroom that will aim to discuss how art can connect indigenous stories to place.
Event (Tuesday 22nd March) :
How does a global commercial business undertake a reconciliation plan in an authentic way? We bring together artist, academic, architect and corporation to discuss how genuine connectivity to First Nation through the business of design can create more respectful and meaningful outcomes
Making Good – Design That Lasts
Installation: One person will use and throw away 300 toothbrushes in their lifetime. The installation by peckvonhartel explores the concept of the value of quality design through daily ‘throw away’ objects.
Event (Wednesday 23rd March) :
How can you measure and advocate for design of quality? We bring together architect, technician, producer and supporter to discuss how designing for longevity creates a better design outcome both ethically and commercially.
