LOCAL DESIGN was founded by Sydney-based creative Emma Elizabeth in 2015. Its aim is to unite the Australian design scene and make it more accessible and supportive for all. Through this online and offline platform, Elizabeth has been creative director and curator of multiple shows nationally and internationally, including shows for Milan Design Week for four consecutive years. LOCAL DESIGN allows a global audience to understand and engage with the Australian aesthetic, connecting its designers with galleries, international retailers, publications and brands.

For the inaugural Melbourne Design Fair, LOCAL DESIGN will showcase a group of designers and artists including Emma Elizabeth herself, Tom Skeehan, Tom Fereday, Andrew Simpson, Anna Varendorff and Luke Storrier. The presentation focuses on collectible art meets design, or design-meets-art pieces that pay homage to glass manufacturing.
