LUMINA FLORA: Media Art+ Biophilic Design Past Event

Presented by REELIZE.STUDIO

LUMINA FLORA is an experiential exhibition and shopfront activation that explores Biophilia through Media Art and Experiential Design applications. The immersive showcase will bloom at the newly launched concept display room REELIZE.SPACE, and investigates the unprecedented potential of merging media technologies with horticulture to extend our experience of the built environment. The exhibition features collaborative art and design by an array of media artists: REELIZE, Mikaela Stafford, Jacqui Munoz, Lisa Meinesz.
An immersive light and botanical installation is the centrepiece activation of the exhibition, best viewed through the display room’s shopfront windows after dark. The installation will evolve durationally, as both the floral micro-climate and lighting effects dynamically respond in real-time to atmospheric changes in local conditions through harnessing climate sensors and live weather data. This Biophilic Design method allows the installation to be contextual, adapting to our experience of the environment and capturing nature’s ephemeral qualities.Interdisciplinary ensemble REELIZE.STUDIO has a passion for the experiential, combining new production techniques and design processes to craft mesmerising structures and spectacles. They have created immersive environments, interactive imagery, multi-sensory installations and performances that captivate audiences and generate lasting impressions. The studio’s practice disrupts the barriers between art, architecture, science and technology. LUMINA FLORA encourages us to envision a horizon, where the built environment is also a living system, immersed in dynamic imagery and integrated with lush flora that harmonises our urban spaces with our intrinsic desire to be connected with nature.
