Festival of Publicness

Festival of Publicness @ University of Melbourne Past Event

Presented by The Melbourne School of Design x Museums & Collections

The theme of Publicness is at once a statement of being in public space – where we come together – and a useful thread bringing together various disciplines and people connected with the public realm: art, architecture, landscape, urbanism, Country, and place.

The Festival of Publicness is a one-day program of short talks, workshops and music presented at the L2 (Atrium) Glyn Davis Building, at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus. The events will take place in close proximity to key exhibitions Emu Sky at the Old Quad, and a survey show of the work of NH Architects at the Melbourne School of Design building. Taking these exhibitions as a departure point, the Festival draws together voices across design, art, and architecture from Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives, to explore what it means to embrace Publicness.
