Create Change Part 2: Exhibition & Talk Past Event

Presented by AGDA

AGDA curates an exhibition for the senses (printed, digital and experiential), a talk and facilitates a space for the community to come together, to inspire and connect. In response to the NGV’s Melbourne Design Week theme: Civic Good and Making Good, AGDA Design Shift looks at the extent of creativity; to solve problems, change perspective, influence behaviour, transform ideas into action, improve and enrich our lives, communicate better, build innovative and meaningful products, and connect us as humans in all of its forms. How do we as designers, artists, creatives, organisations and businesses affect change through our ideas, our craft and our actions?

Come to experience a collection from over 10 creators with an opportunity to hear their stories and understand the makings behind their work in their quest to make positive change. The night features a talk from Charlie Ryan, artist and designer on his not-for-profit creative project ‘V for Victori’, which has been shortlisted for Victorian’s Premier’s Design Awards. We will learn how the project evolved since its first inception in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic first arrived, to today, with a purpose to share heart, hope and solidarity across our greater community.

All are welcome to attend a special night to connect with creative minds and meet like-minded people in a community interested in creating meaningful change.

Participants

Charlie Ryan

Charlie is an artist, designer and the creative director at Five Creative. Co-founded by Charlie and James Baker in 2009, the brand and web design agency has studios in both Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, working with a range of clients both locally and abroad. In their response to the COVID-19 Crisis, Five Creative self-funded a free online directory and campaign to support SMBs in the Mornington Peninsula region of Victoria, called ‘Hopen for Business’. As well as a positive and unifying national campaign called ‘V for Victori (V for Victori-a)’ that accompanied with strong visual designs, promotes an ongoing message for ‘heart, hope and solidarity’ across the country.
